Coming from the stables of the United Kingdom, the position of the leader of the United kingdom conservative party which has been vacant since Boris resigned has gotten a new representative as Lizz Truss was announced as the new leader. Lizz who previously occupies the position of the United Kingdom foreign secretary will as a result of her new position be conferred the title of the prime minister by the longest reigning monarch, who has been ruling for seventy years, Queen Elizabeth II tomorrow at Balmoral.
It was a tough battle between Ms. Truss and Rishi Sunak the ex-finance minister, Truss emerged victorious after polling a total of 81,326 votes while Sunak polled 60399 votes. If we can recall ex-prime minister Boris Johnson resigned in July due to several controversies surrounding his office. He will tender a formal resignation to the queen tomorrow and acknowledge Ms. Truss as the new prime minister.
After being confirmed by the Queen tomorrow, Ms. Truss will then proceed to appoint her cabinet members as protocol demands.
Congratulations to Lizz Truss as she is the third female to occupy the position of prime minister, a feat that every female is proud of.
