Tunisia has prolonged a long running state of emergency by one month until January 30, 2024, according to reports by the state news agency on Saturday.
The North African country has been under a state of emergency since Nov as ember 24, 2015, after an attack killed several presidential guards.
Since then, the state of emergency in the country has been constantly extended.
This measure allows the nation’s security forces with exceptional authority, to have control over the press and bans strikes and meetings that may lead to riot.
However, not everyone is a dan of this measure as it has been heavily criticised by rights groups, who have condemned it for promoting extensive human rights violations.
