The Republic of Turkey has always been one of the foremost critic of israeli action in Gaza, the government have also issued threats to stop trade relations with israel if they persist in war against Gaza.
On Thursday, the republic of Turkey reportedly announced that they are stopping all trade relations with israel over the Hamas crisis.
Although, Turkey has not formally declared the suspension, and it remains unclear what conditions are required for commerce to resume.
Why it matters
Turkey is one of the foremost supporters of Hamas, although it is unclear if the government is just against the actions of Israel or they are fully in support of Hamas. But for this crisis, turkey seems to be taking a stand with Hamas against the brutality of Israel on Gaza.
Israel have been brutally harassing Gaza and still further extends threats to Rafah against the wishes of its allies and the international community.
What are they saying?
- Israel Katz accused Erdoğan of acting like a “dictator” for “disregarding the interests of the Turkish people and businessmen, and ignoring international trade agreements.”
- Katz added that Israel would try to replace any lost products via local production and imports from other countries.
- There have been no formal response from Turkey on the trade suspension
Bottom Line
The israel-Hamas crisis seems to be going on un-ending despite pressures on israel. Not yielding to pressure to end conflict, Israel seems set on eliminating the Hamas battalion and would stop at nothing but a full accomplishment of its aim.
