Kwara State Police Command has begun investigation into the suspected kidnap attempt of a 2-year-old boy by two children who are aged 9 and 5, respectively in Ilorin.
According to reports, the children were caught at Oja Tuntun market, Baboko, in Ilorin metropolis where they had made attempts to abduct the child when traders who had been suspicious about their behavior had raised the alarm which led to their arrest.
An anonymous source had told pressmen that the children confessed that they were promised N12,000 each if they succeeded in the mission. The issue took a new turn, according to the source as they said that the masterminds of the plan mentioned by the children were found to be related to the baby’s parents.
The Spokesperson of the command, Mr. Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed the incident, stating that the accused children said they were only trying to locate the boy’s parents.
Putting the ages of the parties involved in this case, the CP has ordered a thorough investigation of the matter.
