A Turkish drone strike on Monday killed two Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) members in the Iraqi Kurdish town of Ranya, according to Iraqi Kurdistan’s counter-terrorism department.
According to the counter-terrorism statement, two PKK fighters were also injured in the attack.
According to Kurdish security officials, the drone strike targeted a group of PKK fighters in the village of Ranya, 130 kilometers (80 miles) northeast of the city of Sulaimaniya in Iraqi Kurdistan.
Turkey conducts air strikes on PKK militants in northern Iraq on a regular basis and maintains dozens of bases on Iraqi territory. In 1984, the PKK took up arms against the Turkish state.
