The Lagos Police Command has detained two suspects in the Amukoko region of the state for alleged robbery.
CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrest to journalists in Lagos on Sunday.
He claimed that the offenders were apprehended after intelligence reports revealed their illicit activity.
“On March 12, at about 4:00 p.m., the police received information that a group of hoodlums regularly rob passersby of their valuables in the early hours along Alaba-Oro, Amukoko, before retreating to their hideout.
“Acting on the tip-off, officers launched surveillance operations and successfully tracked their hideout in the Olufiditi area of Amukoko.
“The suspects, aged 19 and 28, were subsequently arrested,” Mr Hundeyin said.
He said the police seized a cutlass and a bag containing suspected Indian hemp and other hard drugs from the suspects.
Mr Hundeyin added that the investigation is still in progress and that the case will be brought before the court soon.
