Tyson Fury has unveiled his instant retirement from boxing after twice losing to Oleksandr Usyk. The “Gypsy King,” 36, made his announcement in a video on social media on Monday: “It’s been a blast. And I have loved every bloody minute of it.”
Fury retires from the sport with a pro record of 34 wins, two losses, and one draw. He came to prominence in 2015 with a historic victory over Wladimir Klitschko, who the Ukrainian’s had defeated for nearly a decade.
Fury returned to boxing in 2018, after nearly three years spent away from the ring as he dealt with doping problems and mental health issues, before his widely celebrated trilogy with Deontay Wilder.
His most recent victory was in October 2023, when he narrowly defeated Francis Ngannou by split decision. Fans also remain dubious if this really would be the end of his career, as he previously retired in 2022 — only to return to the ring.
