Nigerian-born Israel ‘The last style bender’ Adesanya knocked out Robert Whittaker in front of 57,000 spectators at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium in October 2019, making this UFC 271 one of the most anticipated rematches in recent memory.
Middleweight king Adesanya will look to turn back the man he won the belt from when the two meet inside the Toyota Center in Houston on Feb. 13 at 4am Nigerian time.
Adesanya stopped Whittaker to kick off his reign atop the division and has beaten just about everyone he’s faced, with the exception of a lone loss in a step up to 205 pounds to fight for the light heavyweight title.
The 32-year old has defeated four of the top five middleweights in the world, as well as a past title challenger in Yoel Romero. Now, he’ll try to make it two over Whittaker, probably the division’s finest fighter.
On the undercard, there are some entertaining heavyweight and middleweight fights. When knockout artists Derrick Lewis and Tai Tuivasa fight in the co-main event, it’s set to be a slugfest. In 39 career wins, the duo has a total of 33 knockouts.
