Overnight strikes by the United States and Israel targeted five oil facilities in and around Tehran, Iran, resulting in the deaths of four people, state television reported on Sunday.

“Last night, four oil depots and a petroleum products transport centre in Tehran and Alborz were attacked by enemy aircraft,” said Keramat Veyskarami, speaking to state TV.

He added that the casualties included two oil tanker drivers and other personnel, while confirming that the facilities sustained damage. “Four of our personnel, including two oil tanker drivers, were killed in the incident,” Veyskarami said, noting that the “fire was brought under control.”

Smoke from the fires lingered over Tehran throughout the night, leaving a dark haze across the city in the morning. Residents also reported the lingering smell of burning in the air.

Despite the attacks, Veyskarami reassured that Iran’s oil depots maintain “sufficient gasoline reserves.”

The strikes mark the latest escalation following the February 28 attacks by the US and Israel, which killed Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei and ignited broader conflict in the Middle East. Iran has since retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel and American interests in the region.
