Victor Osimhen paid the highest tribute to the late Rasheed Yekini and stated that the former striker is still Nigeria’s greatest of all time, even if he, the Galatasaray forward, has been very impressive with the Super Eagles.
Osimhen, who scored a goal and provided a stunning assist for the second goal during the game between Nigeria and Algeria at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, has been moved in line with Yekini’s goal record. Osimhen, however, did not want a personal milestone to be the focus after the match.
Osimhen told the press after the game that breaking records cannot take anything away from Yekini and that the latter is and will always be a shining example of Nigerian literature.

Though he has been on a roll lately, it was not enough to take the player away from the team as he showed great sportsmanship by referring back to the work of his colleagues when they were against a very tricky opponent, Algeria, He shighly talked about the team spirit and their determination an attitude as the main reasons why they were able to get through Algeria and move to the Semi-finals.
Osimhen had scored 4 goals in 5 matches in this tournament. He now firmly believes that his developing self-assurance and being more of an adult have played a significant part in his performance.
The team will be playing their next match, the semi-final, against Morocco, and Osimhen is looking forward to assisting the Super Eagles in being just one step from the main prize, AFCON, in their upcoming match against the host.
