Following Real Madrid’s 2–0 win against Sevilla, Vinicius Junior became the focus of the media not due to what he has done on the pitch but how he has responded off it. The Brazilian player took to social media as a reaction to the negative part of the Santiago Bernabéu fans who were booing him.
When the Brazilian winger was taken off the field by the coach near the end of the game, he was given a very mixed reaction; annoyed fans’ voices could be heard clearly, alongside the other people cheering. The situation pointed at a division of opinion between the locals.

According to MARCA, Vinicius was in the shower when he changed his Instagram profile picture shortly after the end of the match; he replaced a photograph of himself in a Real Madrid uniform with one of himself dressed in Brazil’s yellow jersey.
Vinicius merely posted pictures of the game without a caption, in which he would normally be celebrating, but rather he left a mysterious post consisting only of three dots. This act was met with an instant reaction among fans and experts alike.
Even though the fans were not encouraging him, his Real Madrid squad-mates gave him word-of-mouth support. Kylian Mbappé reacted with a string of heart emojis, while Jude Bellingham was pointing the finger at Vinicius by calling him “My number 7”. Other players, like Endrick, Marcelo, Marco Asensio, and Lucas Vázquez, came out and supported Vinicius publicly.
Coach Xavi Alonso also had his say on the situation after the game, saying that he has not had a conversation with Vini Jr about the incident. “Fans have the right to express their views,” Alonso explained. “This was a tough match. Our aim now is to keep our good run going and properly recharge during this break.”
The event adds another element to the already complicated story of Vinicius and how he is viewed by certain sections of the Madrid crowd.
