Chef Dammy’s representative has addressed the recent speculations and rumours surrounding her record-breaking cooking attempt. The spokesperson clarified that Chef Dammy did indeed apply to Guinness World Records prior to her ambitious endeavour, dismissing claims suggesting otherwise. Adedamilola Adeparusi, popularly known as Chef Dammy, along with the support of Spirit Global Mission Church, aimed to cook for 140 hours, initially setting a target of 120 hours.
The news of Chef Dammy’s cooking feat sparked a frenzy on social media, provoking mixed reactions and prompting numerous inquiries. In an interview with Pulse, he was able to answer some of the pressing questions.
One prominent rumour circulating on social media alleged that Chef Dammy was attempting to break Hilda Baci’s record without applying to Guinness World Records. In May, Hilda Baci achieved a new record for the longest cook-a-thon by cooking for 100 hours and 40 minutes. However, her achievement is yet to be officially verified by Guinness World Records. The spokesperson clarified that Chef Dammy had, in fact, submitted an application to Guinness World Records before undertaking her cooking challenge. Such an application is crucial for recognition by Guinness World Records upon successful completion.
Regarding other circulating rumours, such as the alleged request for payment for the food Chef Dammy cooked or claims that the gas had been turned off during the attempt, the spokesperson categorically dismissed them as false. They advised against believing everything seen on social media, emphasizing that people were merely attempting to undermine Chef Dammy’s efforts.
Despite the backlash Chef Dammy is facing, she has cooked over 61 hours, with her determination there’s every possibility that she’s going to achieve her goal.
