A member of the Edo State House of Assembly, Okaka Eric, has revealed that the House may extend leniency to embattled lawmaker Natasha Osawaru—the wife of music icon Innocent ‘2Baba’ Idibia—if she appears before the legislature and demonstrates sincere remorse for her recent actions.
Osawaru, who represents Egor Constituency, was summoned after a series of viral videos showed her and 2Baba in a heated public confrontation, followed by an explosive Instagram Live session hosted by broadcaster Daddy Freeze.
The online altercation raised concerns within the Assembly about her conduct as an elected representative.

During Monday’s plenary, lawmakers directed Osawaru to appear before the House Ethics and Privileges Committee within seven working days to defend herself against allegations of misconduct.
Speaking with Sunday PUNCH, Eric explained that the Assembly’s stance is not to deprive her constituents of proper representation but to ensure accountability.
He said, “She is a member representing a constituency, and nobody will deprive her constituents of their voice. But if she actually committed some of the acts mentioned and she is remorseful, and decides to take a new course, the House can choose to forgive her.”
The lawmaker added that the committee’s findings would be deliberated by the full House before any action is taken.
“Whatever the committee recommends is not final. It will return to the floor of the House for debate. Based on circumstances, the House might be lenient, but we don’t want to pre-empt the report,” he stated.
The chairman of the Ethics Committee, Eugene Inegbeboh, also confirmed that the panel had commenced its inquiry.
“The House has told her to appear. She just recently gave birth, but we expect her to come and state her case,” he said.
The controversy began when 2Baba joined a livestream featuring his former associates Kaka Igbokwe and Lori Tosan, who accused Natasha of exerting excessive control over the singer’s personal and professional life. Shortly after he appeared, viewers witnessed a tense exchange between the couple before the livestream abruptly ended.
This followed another video showing 2Baba in a confrontation in London, an episode that reportedly attracted police involvement. The incidents have fueled debate about whether the singer’s ongoing personal troubles could overshadow his decades-long legacy—from his days with Plantashun Boiz to global hits like African Queen.
Filmmaker Charles Novia, who collaborated with 2Face and Blackface in the 1990s, offered context to the unfolding drama. He revealed that 2Baba and his former wife Annie separated over two years ago and suggested that Natasha came into the picture shortly afterward.
Novia argued that the collapse of the singer’s management structure has deepened his struggles.
“He’s still a creative force, but he needs to seek help. Only he can do that,” he wrote, urging both 2Baba and Natasha to prioritize personal healing.
Other public figures have also voiced concern. Content creator Nasboi appealed to the singer to “take control,” while talent manager Teebillz advised him to put his emotional stability first, saying “there’s no shame in choosing life.” Rapper Jesse Jagz described the music star as a crucial figure in the creative ecosystem, noting that his stability impacts the entire industry.
Relationship expert Praise Fowowe encouraged the public to approach the situation with compassion, stressing that marital conflicts often signal deeper emotional struggles.
Meanwhile, 2Baba has appealed for calm, calling for a “ceasefire” from supporters and insisting that he is fine. Natasha, however, has remained silent. When contacted by Sunday PUNCH, she answered her phone but did not speak before a background voice instructed her to “cut the call.”
Before her relationship with 2Baba, Natasha was reportedly romantically linked to a man identified as Paul, who is rumoured to be the father of her son.
