Nyesom Wike, a prominent figure often seen as a thorn in the side of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has stirred the political pot by asserting President Bola Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to delivering on his campaign pledges. Wike, known for his outspoken nature, made these statements during the commencement of road rehabilitation in Abuja’s Garki area.
“The FCT Minister of State and I are here to assure you that Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda is in motion, and the FCT is making significant progress. Mr. President’s agenda isn’t just about words; it’s about actions. That’s why we’re starting by flagging off several road projects in this locality,” Wike passionately conveyed to the assembled crowd.
He emphasized that this is just the initial phase, with more to follow in the coming weeks. Wike underscored the focus on infrastructure, a key component of President Tinubu’s promises, and pledged to systematically address each commitment.
“I want to make it clear here that if I didn’t believe in the President’s vision, I wouldn’t be part of his cabinet. He has demonstrated his dedication to Nigeria’s welfare, and that’s why I serve in his government. He genuinely empathizes with the people’s struggles,” asserted the former Rivers State governor.
Wike didn’t shy away from criticizing the state of infrastructure in Nigeria’s capital, promising Abuja residents a brighter future under his administration’s watch. He urged citizens to support the government and remain patient as these crucial road projects commence.
However, he issued a stern warning to contractors responsible for these projects, adamantly rejecting any notion of cost variations. “There will be no room for cost escalation. A project initially estimated at N1 cannot miraculously become N15 within a week. It’s unacceptable. We have the funds to honor our obligations, and we will do so promptly. Contractors, take note,” he declared.
It’s worth noting that Nyesom Wike, despite being a prominent member of the opposition party, has chosen to be a vocal advocate for President Tinubu’s initiatives. This alliance, albeit controversial, demonstrates his determination to keep challenging the PDP and its stance against Tinubu’s electoral victory. As an unwavering presence in the political arena, it seems PDP will have to grapple with Wike’s unyielding rhetoric.
