The World No. 1 Jannik Sinner was emphatic in his first match at Wimbledon 2025 and dealt with a straight-sets win over his compatriot Luca Nardi on Tuesday. The Italian top-seeded player came off dominating against the world No. 95, 6-4, 6-3, 6-0 in 1 hour and 48 minutes on Court One.

Unaffected by hot weather, Sinner revealed his quality and calmness by a perfect game to move to the second round. “To be here again, at this special place makes me very happy,” he shared. “It’s a pity that I had to play against the Italian, but unfortunately, that’s how it is, and I’m lucky that it was me.”

That beat was to be Sinner’s first Slam since that agony-filled French Open final against Carlos Alcaraz, where the Spaniard came from two sets down and won the match. Although breaking up with the longtime coach Marco Panichi and the physio Ulises Badio last week, Sinner was positive, crediting the work on the serve he did with the remaining coaches, Simone Vagnozzi and Darren Cahill.

The Italian still seeking for his first title at Wimbledon, having got into the semifinals in 2023. After his disappointing exit from Halle earlier this month, he will try to keep going. Off the court, he recently released a musical duet with Andrea Bocelli titled Polvere Gloria.
