The Bayelsa State government has just announced that civil servants in the state who are absent from work, for up to 15 days in a month will be deprived of their salaries for that particular month.
The state’s deputy governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, had made the announcement yesterday, June 8, during a meeting with the stakeholders of Sagbama LGA at the government house in Yenagoa.
Ewhrudjakpo had also warned community leaders, saying m that any leader who defaulted in reporting absentee workers to the appropriate authorities will be additionally sanctioned.
According to the deputy-governor, this move was made as an attempt to change the narrative in the education and health sectors in the state as investigations have led to discoveries that there was hardly any public health facility or school across the state where no staff had been posted to.
