Chelsea’s Xabi Alonso has a late dilemma over Moises Caicedo as the midfielder faces a return of the injury ahead of Sunday’s derby with Arsenal, which takes place in London.
A definite doubt for a trip to Emirates Stadium, Caicedo incurred a recurrence of the injury after partaking in Chelsea’s 4-3 win against Brighton last week.
The Ecuadorian international started on 68 minutes as a second-half substitute, and remained on the field for just 14 minutes before hobbling off and requiring treatment; thankfully for Chelsea, he left the pitch of his own accord; however, this only heightened injury concerns for the Blues.

His fitness is to be fully reviewed Saturday by their decision of having the 24-year-old, said Alonso of his thoughts, “We will check tomorrow. Tomorrow is the final decision for the squad on Sunday. We must not worry; we must check tomorrow to make a decision.”
Caicedo previously had to miss both Chelsea’s Premier League opener with Fulham and their victory against Luton Town in the Carabao Cup earlier this season.
Manager Alonso has other alternatives if he fails to recover, including Reece James and Romeo Lavia.
