The Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, has barred Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Kogi Central Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), from paying the WAEC fees of secondary school students in the senatorial district of the state.
Recall that Akpoti-Uduaghan had on December 11, 2022, announced her intention to donate N5 million to offset the WAEC fees of students in the five local government areas of the Kogi Central senatorial district.
But in a recent development, the state government had in a letter, asked all schools to obtain permission for any internal or external program.
An anonymous source had remarked: “He even called a physical meeting of school
principals to warn them against taking the grant,”
“The letter was sent out to bar schools from receiving the grant and the grant was to help facelift the education sector in the state but the government is opposing the move.”
Meanwhile, the Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan campaign organization has condemned the state government’s move. It is no news that Governor Bello has been against Akpoti-Uduaghan’s political ambitions as she has had to endure various political machinations against her.
