Well-known Literary icon, Professor Wole Soyinka, has mocked Peter Obi, alleging that he had not won the 2023 presidential election as he is claiming.
According to Soyinka, Obi had only come third in the election, and not even a close second.
Recall that last week, the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, PEPT, had on Wednesday, September 6, upheld Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory at the polls. Regardless of that verdict, his opposition has promised to proceed to the Supreme Court to challenge the decision.
Tinubu’s victory is being challenged by Atiku Abubakar, a candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, –PDP, who came second in the election, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party who followed in third position.
The former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, is claiming to have won the polls, but Soyinka has remarked that the ex governor had not even clinched the second place spot.
Soyinka had said:
“I was in a monitoring organisation and I can categorically state that Peter Obi’s party had come third at the polls, not even second place and the leadership knows it.
They [Peter Obi and his party] want to do what we call in Yoruba ‘gbajue’, which simply means a force of lies. Crowds including the youths will be sent to the streets to stage a protest.”
“I am always ready to be part of such demonstrations but only if the reasons are on banner of truth.” Soyinka had concluded.
