The family of the currently imprisoned leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has issued a 14-day ultimatum to Mazi Simon Ekpa, a self-proclaimed disciple of the IPOB leader, ordering him to stop using the name and/or likeness of Mazi Kanu in any of his broadcasts or fundraisers.
In a letter signed by Nnamdi Kanu’s Attorney, Magnus Jonsson, on his behalf, Ekpa was threatened with legal action to immediately cease the actions outlined in the letter. The Kanu family also demanded that Ekpa desists from making any more derogatory remarks against any of their members.
They also asked that he stop addressing himself as a Disciple of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, either in the spirit of being a member of IPOB, which the letter insists he had been informed firmly that he was not or in any other manner that might be connected with the Biafra struggle.
Mr. Ekpa was then given 14-days to comply with the demands listed in the letter, after which the Kanu family would respond with full legal force if he flouted their requests. They also made it very clear that the letter would be the only warning he would ever receive on the matter.
