We can never overemphasize the negative effects of drug abuse, certain drugs have been banned over time, and we still have people using these drugs despite the negative effects asides for medicinal purposes.
Report has it that a 300-level student of the Department of Gas and Petroleum Engineering of the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa state who goes by the name Job Alawari Kei slumped and died after he overdosed on a popular illegal drug known as Colorado.
According to the information gathered, Job who is an internet fraudster commonly known as “Yahoo Yahoo was celebrating his success on a recent deal when he accidentally took an overdose of the drug which led to his death.
The news was confirmed by the State’s police spokesperson, Asinim Butswat. According to her, he was taken to the hospital but was confirmed dead. Investigation as to the case is still ongoing, however, the body has been deposited in the hospital for an autopsy to be carried out.
In her statement, Butswat said, “On May 3 2023 at about 2200 hours, one Job Alawari Kei ‘m’ 19, a student of the Petroleum and Gas Engineering Department of Federal University Otuoke, slumped after intake of illicit substances.
“He was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead. The corpse has been deposited at the Hospital for autopsy. An investigation is ongoing.”
One of the negative effects of overdosing on drugs is death or several other complications. Much more awareness still needs to be created as regards taking illicit drugs, and our law enforcement agents have to be up on their feet to arrest those dealing with such drugs.
