Reports reaching Federal Character says that no fewer than 20 persons have been feared dead, while another 7 persons sustained several degrees of injuries in a multiple road accident in Bauchi State.
One of the crashes involving 2 vehicles happened at Bambal village, along Kano Jama’are high way at about 7 pm.
According to the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Bauchi State, Yusuf Abdullahi, one of the vehicles, an 18 seater Toyota Hummer bus collided with a trailer with plate number MAD710XA.
He went further, stating that there were 16 persons in total that were involved in the crash- 10 male adults and 6 female adults. Mr. Abdullahi iterated that the accident was a result of overspeeding.
According to other eye witnesses, the hummer bus caught fire immediately it had impact with the trailer killing everyone on board. Their copses have been deposited at General Hospital Kiyawa, where they were all confirmed dead.
According to The Sector Commander, a second crash happened at about 6.30 pm at Duhuwar Kura village, along Azare Zaki road. 4 passengers died in this crash. This accident was between a Volkswagen Golf car driven by one Abubakar Haruna, and a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle. “This is a case of over speeding and overloading,” the Commander said.
11 people were involved in the crash – 9 male adults, one female adult and a female child. All victims were taken to Azare Federal Medical Center.
