Benue State has appointed iconic Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Baba, as the Technical Adviser on Entertainment and Community Outreach.
The appointment was announced during the singer’s recent visit to Government House, with a video of the event quickly circulating on social media.
During the meeting, the governor commended 2Baba for his longstanding impact on the entertainment industry and acknowledged his efforts in supporting the state.
He said the singer’s expertise would help inspire the youth and foster positive development within communities.
“And I feel it would not be out of place at all, because you are a guru of entertainment. Once you say 2Face people start dancing even without a song. So we are happy you are here,” the governor said.
“On behalf of the Benue State government and our very good people, we want to give you some more responsibilities, plus the ones you have been doing, because you have the capacity to do more.
“You can help us chart the way forward to improve other people’s lives and to gain from your wisdom and advisement as well. So I am pleased to announce that we will make you a technical adviser to the governor on entertainment and community outreach.”
The new role comes shortly after 2Baba confirmed his split from actress Annie Idibia in January.
Days after the revelation, he confirmed he was in a new relationship with Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly.
He later proposed to her in February, stating that their relationship had nothing to do with the breakup.
Natasha has since updated her Instagram bio to include the singer’s last name.
