The crime of rape is one of the most underreports crimes of personal violence, and the law seeks to protect every single person from being forced to use carnal knowledge without consent. And that is why the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act did not streamline the definition of Rape to a particular gender or a particular act. Fortunately, the VAPPA is operative in Abuja.
