Troops from the 6 Brigade have successfully apprehended seven suspected terrorists and seized a significant cache of weapons in a series of operations across Taraba State. This was reported in a press release by Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations.
Operation in Katlong Village: Arrest and Recovery
On August 7, 2024, 6 Brigade troops stationed at Kambari acted on credible intelligence regarding an imminent attack on a Fulani settlement in Katlong Village, Karim Lamido Local Government Area. The bandits, faced with a heavy fire response, fled in disarray. One bandit, Yusuf Musa, was apprehended with an AK-47 rifle and 20 rounds of ammunition. Additionally, 118 stolen cows were recovered and returned to their owners.
Arrest of Bandits En Route to Market
On August 6, 2024, troops intercepted four suspected bandits—Yusuf Hassan, Mohammed Mamman, Haruna Iliya, and Hammadu Shaibu—who were reportedly heading to Mashingi Village market to purchase supplies. The operation resulted in the recovery of a motorcycle, four mobile phones, and 57,000 Naira in cash.
Seizure of Machetes and Other Equipment
On August 9, 2024, following a tip-off about a gathering of suspects preparing to distribute machetes for criminal activities, troops mobilized to Magami in Jalingo Local Government Area. Two suspects, Umar Zubairu and Issah Abdullahi, were arrested with 436 machetes, four filling machines, a mobile phone, and various fabrication tools.

Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, praised the troops for their prompt and effective actions in safeguarding Taraba State. He reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to ensuring national security and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. General Uwa assured that the Army will continue collaborating with other security agencies and community leaders to combat crime in the region. The arrested suspects will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
