65 former National Youth Service Corps members received automatic employment in the Federal Civil Service on Thursday in Abuja, thanks to President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.).
Buhari also gave them scholarships to continue their study up to the doctoral degree level at any university of their choice in the nation in addition to employment.
Additionally, he announced cash awards totaling N250,000 for each of the top award recipients and N200,000 for other award recipients, such as the physically challenged former Corp members under the NYSC Hope Alive Program.
To assure adherence to the employment offer and the awarding of scholarships, the President issued a directive to the Head of the Federal Civil Service, the Federal Civil Service Commission, and the Minister of Education.
Speaking at the State House Conference Center for the NYSC 50th Anniversary Honours Award ceremony, the President noted that out of the 65 recipients, 52 received Presidential Honours Awards and the remaining 13 were former Corps Members with physical disabilities who had been recognized by the NYSC Hope Alive program.
