The global advertising industry is expected to grow more than ever before, with earnings predicted to hit $989.8 billion in 2024 and surpass $1.1 trillion in 2025, which is a year sooner than earlier estimates. This prediction, found in the 2024 Global Midyear Advertising Forecast, points out the main reasons for this growth: the increase in digital advertising, the comeback of important markets like China, and improvements in technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI).

The report has raised its forecast for global ad revenue growth in 2024, from the 5.3% estimated in December 2023 to 7.8%, which equals $989.8 billion. This growth is expected to keep going into 2025, with an extra 6.8% rise pushing earnings over $1.1 trillion.

A  significant portion of this growth comes from the United States and China, which together make up 57.1% of the world’s ad revenue in 2024. The United States is expected to grow by 5.8%, reaching $365.9 billion, while China’s forecast has been updated from $148.2 billion to $199.4 billion, showing its strong market comeback.

These two big markets will add $44.5 billion in extra revenue in 2024, which is almost 1.5 times more than the $27.5 billion added by all other markets combined. Without the U.S. and China, the world’s ad revenue growth for 2024 is predicted to go up from 6.5% to 6.9%, showing how much they lead the industry.

In Nigeria, the advertising world has changed a lot in the past few years. From 2021 to 2022, money spent on ads went up by 35.9% each year. This happened because businesses wanted to make their brands more well-known, get more customers, and connect with people. But in 2023, there was a small drop because companies became more careful due to uncertain economic conditions.
