Although the court granted him bail at N1 million, it came with strict conditions. One surety must be either the PMAN Chairman or Secretary. The other must own property within Ilorin’s Government Reserved Area and present a valid Certificate of Occupancy.

Because Portable failed to meet these requirements, the court remanded him at the Oke Kura Correctional Centre in Ilorin.

Instagram Video Led to Defamation Case Against Portable

The matter began after Saheed Osupa submitted a petition on March 21, 2025. He accused Portable of public defamation and insults during a live Instagram broadcast.

In the viral video, Portable allegedly said: “This man dey try bring down my shine! He be like person wey dey chop snail with shell, him no get sense. Osupa carry tortoise for stomach. When Apple Music and Spotify want to drop money for me, na him remove my song from the platform, make I no see money.”

Osupa told police the video was false, inciting, and damaging to his reputation, stating that it was designed to provoke public hatred and unrest.

The Kwara State Police Command, led by SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, acted on the complaint. Officers obtained a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court in Ilorin.

On April 13, 2025, they tracked Portable to Abeokuta, Ogun State, where he was arrested at 7:25 p.m. He was taken to Ilorin that night.

According to ASP Adeniyi James, Portable gave a full statement upon arrival, in the presence of both parties’ lawyers. The officer said the singer was charged following orders from police authorities.

Will Portable Learn From This Public Defamation Case?

His remand may become a defining moment in Portable’s career. Known for reckless speech and controversial posts, he now faces the legal consequences of public defamation, threats to life, and criminal incitement. Only time will tell if he has learned a lesson from this legal battle with Fuji legend Saheed Osupa.
