Femi Adebayo, Chioma Chukwuka Shine At 11th AMVCAs, With Seven Doors Leading The Wins

The 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs) saw Seven Doors steal the spotlight, as the widely praised series bagged three prestigious awards. Femi Adebayo and Chioma Chukwuka were honored with the titles of ‘Best Lead Actor’ and ‘Best Lead Actress’ for their captivating performances in the series.

Adebayo, who portrayed a troubled king and the husband of Amaka, played by Chukwuka, triumphed over a competitive pool of nominees, including Gideon Okeke (Tokunbo), Bucci Franklin (The Weekend), Femi Branch (House of Ga’a), Thapelo Makoena (Skeleton Coast), Bimbo Manuel (Princess On A Hill), Adedimeji Lateef (Lisabi: The Uprising), and Stan Nze (Suspicion).

Similarly, Chukwuka secured the ‘Best Lead Actress’ award, outshining fellow nominees Gbugbemi Ejeye (Farmer’s Bride), Uzoamaka Onuoha (Agemo), Uche Montana (Thin Line), Uzoamaka Aniunoh (Phoenix Fury), Hilda Dokubo (The Uprising: Wives On Strike 3), and Bimbo Ademoye (Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre).

In addition to the acting accolades, Seven Doors, which earned 11 nominations in total, also took home the ‘Best Score/Music’ award, thanks to the brilliant work of Tolu Obanro.

Meanwhile, Lisabi: The Uprising was another standout, winning three awards, including Best Make-up (Hakeem Effects), Best Art Direction, and Best Indigenous Movie.

Other notable winners included Freedom Way for Best Movie, The Legend of the Vagabond – Queen of Lagos for Best Cinematography, Mai DunDun for Best Documentary, and Iyor Prosper for Best Digital Content Creator. Nigerian Idol Season Nine won Best Unscripted MNet Original, while My Fairytale Wedding took home Best Scripted MNet Original. Mercy Aigbe was awarded Best Supporting Actress for her role in Farmer’s Bride, while Gabriel Afolayan won Best Supporting Actor for Inside Life. Kayode Kasum received the Trailblazer Award, and the Industry Merit Award was presented to Nkem Owoh and Sani Mu’azu.

The AMVCA, organized annually by Multichoice, celebrates excellence in television, film, entertainment, and digital content creation across Nollywood and the African continent. The event, held in Lagos, Nigeria, was broadcast live on all Africa Magic channels, with winners determined through a combination of public voting and panel selections.

The nominations covered works released between January 1 and December 31, 2024, recognizing the best in film, television, and digital content across the region.
