The much anticipated 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) has at long last arrived, and boy did it come in a whirlwind of mesmerising fashion styles on the AMVCA red carpet.
While some of the biggest and creative African entertainers were bagging their awards during the show, the others kept our (the audience) jaws glued on the floor as a result of their creative and gorgeous looks.
This year, a lot of the A-list stars showed up in mermaid dresses, corseted attires, and long silk trains, crafted by Nigeria’s best designers, with one even going as far as inscribing their names on a suit to mark their creativity.
Below are some of the looks from the 11th edition of AMVCA that I’m totally loving:
Mercy Aigbe
Mercy Aigbe took her dazzling personality literally to the red carpet, wearing the sun, stars and moon on her person. The top half of her corseted gown featured a beaded design of orange and yellow beads made to imitate the image of the sun. For the bottom half of her gown, glittery white stars were interspersed in the fabric’s black background. Finally, a silver-coloured moon was sewn to be the statement piece in the dress, covering from her shoulder to waist.
Jemima Osunde
I loved Jemima Osunde’s look in that she did not do too much but still ended up looking stunning. I loved the choice of fabric for her black train and the ruffle design.
Mercy Eke
This reality TV star and actress was a truly dazzling sight to behold at the red carpet. The former BIg Brother Naija (BBN) housemate wore a white deconstructed gown that imitated water droplets and splashes – a brilliant piece of work from a genius designer, Amy Aghaomi.
Osas Ighodaro
Osas walked the AMVCA red carpet in a beautiful Veekee James masterpiece that embodied an ancient tree. This look featured dark bark tones, bare branches, and delicate mushrooms clinging to her frame.
Doyin
There has been a mild debate between this former BBN housemate and Osas Ighodaro’s out on the internet. A lot of people are of the opinion that the best dressed title should go to Doyin instead of Osas, especially when both women were compared side by side as a result of the similar themed outfits.
For Doyin, she looked reminiscent of a blooming tree with strong roots. This particular attire featured flowing green details and leafy accents that symbolized growth, life, and rebirth.
Nana Akua Addo
This Ghanaian star is never to be found lacking in the fashion department, especially when it comes to the red carpet. For the 2025 AMVCA awards, the actress wore a futuristic themed attire consisting of scales that orbited around her waist and extended atop her head. Ini Dima-Okojie
This stunning actress left nothing to chance as she slayed the AMVCA red carpet with a flourish, wearing a custom made SomobySomo deconstructed gown that featured a dramatic corset piece.
Did any of your faves make it to this list? If not, who did I miss?
