Grammy-nominated Afrobeats star Davido has stirred conversation on social media following his bold claim that Lagos boasts the best nightlife in the world.

Speaking on the Culture Knock Out podcast, the singer highlighted the city’s vibrant entertainment scene, pointing out its abundance of fun activities, quality restaurants, and energetic nightlife.Davido Claims Lagos Has the Best Nightlife in the World, Sparks Mixed Reactions Online

“There [are] so many interesting things to do in Lagos. We have amazing nightlife. I feel like we have the best nightlife in the world, we have good restaurants. Everything is there in Lagos,” Davido said.

His comments, however, have generated divided opinions among netizens. While some praised him for showcasing Lagos in a positive light, others questioned the accuracy and motivation behind his remarks.

@ThePhysicsOfgod implied that the statement might be an attempt at image repair, saying, “This must be damage control after being bashed for demarketing Nigeria in his other interview. Lagos has the best nightlife in the world ke.”

Another user, @Onuohajude8, raised concerns about security in the city: “If u are not careful after the nightlife u lose ur phone or ur life.”

On the flip side, @Chief_Big360 applauded Davido’s consistent efforts to promote Lagos: “Sentiments aside, Davido impresses me with the way he promotes Lagos on any chance he has in interviews.”

However, not everyone was convinced about the direction of his media appearances. @Here4buz questioned the purpose behind them, writing, “But wait o, what is really the objective of these interviews; I am asking out of genuine curiosity because his last album performed very poorly on the global charts after countless interviews.”

Davido’s remark has undoubtedly sparked renewed debate about Lagos’ appeal as a global nightlife destination, reflecting both admiration and concern from fans and critics alike.
