Nigerian socialite Cubana Chief Priest has come out to address the criticisms sparked by his act of kneeling before President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The entrepreneur, accompanied by music artist Davido and executive Ubi Franklin, visited the presidential villa in Abuja last week, sparking various reactions when a video of him kneeling before the president circulated online.

Adding to the controversy, Cubana publicly endorsed Tinubu’s intention to seek re-election in 2027. This happened shortly after another image of him kneeling before Vice President Shettima had already drawn considerable online backlash.

On Tuesday, Cubana took to Instagram to respond to his critics, dismissing their complaints as envy rather than sincere concern.

He compared their harsh words to the opposition Tinubu faced before his presidency, suggesting such negativity will only strengthen his resolve.

He wrote, “All of a sudden, dem don love me so much. That they are so hurt that CP knelt down for Presidency. Well, me I know say no be wetin dey really pain una, wetin dey pain una be say why is it always CP?”

He went on, “So funny how na me kneel down for Presidency, but na una leg dey pain. Na so una abuse them till they became the president, na so una go abuse me till I become wetin dey my mind to become. Una abuse na blessings in disguise.”

Cubana emphasised his loyalty to the Tinubu administration, promising to continue supporting the president’s vision in every part of his life. “I feel super comfortable on the feet of Asiwaju/Shettima,” he said.

Closing his message, he reminded followers of the ruling party’s symbol and his unwavering commitment: “Don’t forget the symbol is the broom. Together they can never break us. On your mandate PBAT, CP shall kneel, stand, walk, work, dance, sleep, grow & explore.”
