Nollywood actor Daniel Etim-Effiong recently opened up about a short period in his life when he dated multiple women simultaneously, describing it as part of his personal growth.

In a candid conversation with Chude Jideonwo, the actor was asked whether he considered himself a womanizer before marriage. He responded, “It depends on what is your definition of a womanizer.”Daniel Etim-Effiong Reflects On Brief Womanizing Phase, Urges Youth To Value Commitment

When the term was clarified as a man who juggles several romantic relationships at once, Etim-Effiong admitted that there was indeed a time he fit that description. “Maybe there was a time in my life I was… I wouldn’t say for long periods of my life. Maybe for some certain periods that I explored. So, perhaps,” he said.

Reflecting on those times, he acknowledged, “Yes, they were periods of learning for me. If I learned, then they were good periods.”

He explained that through his experiences, he realized that what seems appealing or fulfilling on the surface doesn’t always deliver the satisfaction one expects. “On paper, it feels like that is the life, but experientially maybe not,” he shared.

Etim-Effiong also offered advice to young people, cautioning them about the consequences of living a player lifestyle. “I tell young people a lot that it is cool to be a player but if you develop that habit or lifestyle, you won’t automatically change overnight.”

He emphasized the importance of commitment by stating, “So, don’t develop something you don’t want to continue for the rest of your life. If you are not able to commit to one person, if you jump from one relationship to another, that won’t automatically change when you marry.”

He highlighted the challenge of sustaining relationships for those who have not learned commitment, saying,

“When you marry that muscle hasn’t been developed so you encounter one challenge and you want to immediately jump or you just be like, ‘I’m talking to you, you are not listening to me, let me find somebody that would listen to me.’”

In closing, he warned, “If you are the kind of person that before you got married it was easy for you to just walk away, keep different relationships, keep ladies on the string, that won’t change when you get married.”
