Veteran Nollywood actor Tom Njemanze has made a public appeal for financial assistance as he battles prostate cancer.
A video showing the ailing actor in a hospital bed surfaced online on Tuesday and quickly drew widespread concern from fans and colleagues. In the video, Njemanze reached out to the public for help as he prepares for urgent surgery.
Filmmaker Stanley Ontop, who shared the video on Instagram, confirmed the actor’s condition and urged Nigerians to support him.
“Hello guys, one of our Nollywood legends is sick and needs urgent surgery. Sir Tom Njemanze has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and he needs your support to undergo surgery. Nothing is too small, fams. Help our legend live again,” he said.
Njemanze is known for his iconic roles in classic Nollywood titles such as Issakaba, Tokunboh, Atosa, Pounds and Dollars, Osuofia in London, Igbotic Love, and Brain Box. His long-standing presence in the industry has earned him respect as one of Nollywood’s seasoned talents.
His plea comes just four months after fellow veteran actor John Amaefule also cried out for help while undergoing treatment for a partial stroke and cancer.
Fans and colleagues have begun sharing the appeal in hopes of raising the necessary funds to support Njemanze’s treatment and recovery.
