In a video currently making rounds on the internet, a trailer bearing cattle has been discovered to have been set ablaze by a person suspected to be affiliated with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) groups. Occurring between the hours of 8-9 am, the Ezinifite/Uga Road of Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra state has been plunged into chaos as stranded cows that escaped the fires have been wandering the area, barging into houses and causing pandemonium.

This is coming on the heels of the incident that occurred in Imo where a couple in the Nigerian Army was killed and beheaded, amongst other such tales of massive unrest in the South Eastern zone. However, the group has vigorously denied all allegations, citing its investigations as proof.Speaking on behalf of IPOB, the group spokesperson Emma Powerful dismissed the claims made by the Nigerian Army that it was IPOB members that were responsible for the beheading of the soldiers and the general state of unrest in the region.

Emma powerful

He stated one of the causes to be an ongoing political war between the Imo State governor, Hope Uzodimma, and his predecessor, Rochas Okorocha, claiming that the arrest of Uche Nwosu, Okorocha’s son-in-law as a prime example and asking what exactly had happened with the case since Nwosu’s arrest.Tackling the further allegations of IPOB’s involvement in the killings and insecurity in the state (Imo), Powerful claimed the culprits to be unknown people armed to fight and not IPOB’s members, and enjoining the public to remember earlier statements made by the group denouncing and separating themselves from the hoodlums.

“The perpetrators are criminals recruited by our enemies to demonize us,” said Powerful. “We said that no member of IPOB will engage in acts inimical to the people we are struggling to liberate… We are not killers and we cannot suddenly resort to terrorism which is not part of our mandate.”
