Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has made it clear that nothing comes before grabbing a major trophy, as Gunners have been getting ready for the 2025/26 campaign.
The Spaniard who was appointed in 2019 and took home the FA Cup in his first season, believes that he has been instrumental in turning the tide at the club lately.
The club finished second in the league for the third time consecutively in the 24/25 season and reached the Champions League semi-final, for the first time since 2008, but Arteta confesses that the team needs to win some trophies now.
“I think we have done really good work for this club. Mikel Arteta said to ESPN Brasil. “In last three years, we are the team with the most points in the Premier League. But we are lacking a major title. This is what we are missing because everything else has been done.”
The Gunners have been doubly aggressive in the transfer market this summer to bolster their squad with the arrivals of Viktor Gyökeres, Martin Zubimendi, and Noni Madueke, as they set their sights on another domestic and European competition.
Arteta said, “The feeling among the fans has improved. Arsenal is one of the best teams in Europe, yes, but now we have to prove it with a trophy.”
