Life coach and social commentator Solomon Buchi has drawn criticism after commenting on media personality Toke Makinwa’s recent pregnancy announcement, specifically questioning her reference to God in the testimony.
Makinwa had shared that she prayed to God to become a mother by the age of 40, celebrating her pregnancy as an answered prayer.
In a video posted on his Instagram page, Buchi congratulated Makinwa but expressed concern over linking the announcement with divine intervention.
“I’m happy that Toke is having a child at almost 40; it seems it’s something she really desired as a woman, but I have a problem with mixing Jesus and God with it. She talked about how she had an agreement with God that she really wanted to be a mother,” he said.
Buchi further argued that bringing God into such personal milestones could be misleading, especially when parenthood occurs outside of marriage.
“We really need to be very careful how we mix God with our personal decisions. You are having a child outside of wedlock, there is no need bringing God into that, spiritualizing it. Honestly, you can give your testimony without infusing God into it because according to God’s standard, the only right way to be a parent is in the premise of marriage,” he added.
