Arsenal, in an electric display, edged out Nottingham Forest by a three-goal margin at Emirates Stadium and thus for the first time since August 2024, made it three consecutive home league wins.
New manager Ange Postecoglou got a nightmare welcome after he took over from Nuno Espírito Santo during the international break. His team, with only three victories in the last 11 league matches, seemed out of sync with their manager’s attacking style of play, and hence they were totally dominated by their opponents.
Arsenal had the ball most of the time but at the start of the game, they found it hard to create. Forest captain Martin Ødegaard and Murillo had to be substituted because of their injuries, but it was Martin Zubimendi who took the match to another level in the 37th minute when he scored with a beautiful volley from his first ever Arsenal goal.
Immediately after the kick-off, Viktor Gyökeres extended the lead by one more, after he connected perfectly with Eberechi Eze’s cross to the net, without a doubt, it was his first Premier League goal.
Forest’s Chris Wood could have got the goal that he was looking forward to via a deflection, but David Raya pulled off an amazing save and the ball hit the crossbar, while Gyökeres later hit the post at the other end.
Without any doubt, Zubimendi capped the scoring with a header at the very end of the match, as Arsenal secured a very comfortable victory, and put great pressure on Postecoglou’s Forest tenure from the very beginning.
