Real Madrid have made it known that Trent Alexander-Arnold will be away from the pitch for up to six weeks due to a muscle injury that was suffered during their UEFA Champions League Marseille encounter on Tuesday night.
The 26-year-old was in visible discomfort and had to exit the Santiago Bernabéu after just five minutes of the game, which saw Xabi Alonso making his substitutions early as Dani Carvajal was brought on. Carvajal was subsequently sent off, worsening Madrid’s defensive issues.
Per the club, “Today, upon the tests performed by the Real Madrid Medical Services on our player, Trent Alexander-Arnold, a muscle injury in the biceps femoris of the left leg has been identified. We will keep you posted.”
The incident keeps the England international out of a very packed schedule of games and leaves unsettled whether he will be at the Madrid away game against Liverpool on November 4, hence his first visit back at Anfield following his transfer to LaLiga.
In the period after he had been brought in by Madrid, Alexander-Arnold has been on the pitch for a total of 10 times in all competitions, and he has also provided one assist.
He was absent in the recent Thomas Tuchel England squad and now it appears that he will miss the games against Wales and Latvia, next month.
