Nigerian music sensation Adekunle Gold has been honoured in a unique way, with a street in Lagos now bearing his name.
The 38-year-old singer shared the special moment with his fans on Instagram, posting a video of the unveiling ceremony.
In the clip, Adekunle Gold was joined by his wife, Simi, and their daughter, Deja, as they together pulled back a veil to reveal the new signpost reading “Adekunle Kosoko Street.”
Expressing his gratitude, the “Sade” hitmaker wrote: “Adekunle Kosoko Street. The city that raised me now carries my name. Thank you, Lord, for my many blessings.”
The recognition holds significant historical meaning for Adekunle Gold, who is part of the Kosoko royal family of Lagos Island. His ancestry traces back to Oba Kosoko, the former king of Lagos, who ruled from 1845 to 1851.
