Veteran Nollywood actor Oyewole Olowomojuore, fondly known as Baba Gebu, has passed away.
The sad news was shared by actor and filmmaker Kunle Afod on his verified Instagram page on Wednesday. Afod revealed that the Yoruba movie icon died on Tuesday following a brief illness.
Expressing his grief, Afod described the late actor as a true legend who left a remarkable legacy in the film industry.

He wrote, “It saddens my heart as I announce the passing away of our great legend, a great actor who passed away this evening after a brief illness… BABA GEBU, may your soul rest in peace.”
Baba Gebu was widely celebrated for his decades-long contribution to the Yoruba film industry, where he appeared in numerous hit productions and nurtured many rising actors.
In 2024, the veteran actor opened up about the loss of his wife, explaining that his return to acting helped him overcome grief and ward off depression. At that time, colleagues, including Kunle Afod, stood by him, offering support as he gradually reconnected with his passion for filmmaking.
