Mikel Arteta lauded his Arsenal team following a 3–1 victory against Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening, a result that solidified their lead at the summit of the Champions League standings. The Gunners delivered a display in the second half to overpower the six-time European champions and secure their fifth straight triumph in the tournament.

Arsenal took the lead initially with a goal from Jurrien Timber. Bayern’s 17-year-old midfielder Lennart Karl scored the equaliser towards half-time. The home team came back decisively after the interval as Noni Madueke put them back ahead by netting his debut goal for the team. Later, substitute Gabriel Martinelli capitalised on an error by Manuel Neuer to secure the win.

Arteta expressed respect for his team, describing Bayern as “the top team in Europe” and commending the personal skill displayed throughout the field. “The players performed extraordinarily “, he remarked. “On a level, we were outstanding in managing all the difficulties they presented.”

Despite Arsenal’s winning and perfect UCL record this season, Arteta said that they need to shift their focus to Sunday’s Premier League clash against Chelsea. He also praised the impact of his bench, with two goals coming from substitutes, despite the team missing key players including Gabriel Magalhães, Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyökeres.
