Nigerian artist Gabriel Oche Amanyi, known professionally as Terry G, has defended Burna Boy following the viral incident in which the singer asked a couple to leave his concert for falling asleep.
In a video shared on his X account, Terry G argued that the criticism directed at Burna Boy is largely because of his public status.
He said the afrobeats star’s reaction was justified, comparing it to how church pastors would wake up members found sleeping during services.

The rapper also noted that the couple’s behaviour could have affected Burna Boy’s reputation and attendance at future shows. He questioned why anyone would go to a music event only to sleep, adding that such actions are unfair to performers.
“Una too like to dey hold people accountable just because say dey don be public figure. If it happened in a church and someone was found sleeping, would the pastors not ask the ushers to wake them up? Because he’s musician, you are going to his show to sleep, so the camera can capture that moment and spoil his show,” Terry G stated.
