On the way to the official draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup held in Washington, D.C., moments before, the first-ever FIFA Peace Prize was given to the United States President Donald Trump. The brand-new award unveiled by FIFA President Gianni Infantino is meant to recognize individuals who have taken “exceptional and extraordinary actions for peace” and have contributed to uniting the people worldwide.

It was generally anticipated that Trump, who came with Infantino and has lately made several appearances with him, would be the first one to receive the inaugural award. Shortly before heading out to the stage, he was handed a golden trophy, medal, and certificate, and later on, during his speech, he asserted that numerous global conflicts were averted by his diplomatic efforts.

While describing the award as “one of the greatest honours that his life has given him, Trump commended Infantino’s management and, at the same time, announced that the 2026 World Cup, to be held between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, has already set a new record in terms of ticket sales.

After the event, Trump, together with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, went on stage to carry out the official World Cup draw. The American President drew balls for their already determined groups and, afterward, took pictures together with Infantino.
