Grammy-nominated singer Davido has opened up about how his song With You featuring Omah Lay was created, offering insight into their first real interaction and how misconceptions were cleared along the way.
In a video, Davido revealed that the collaboration began after he reached out to Omah Lay following a tweet in which the singer expressed surprise at being mentioned during Davido’s livestream with popular streamer Kai Cenat.
Omah Lay had earlier admitted that he believed Davido disliked him, an assumption that changed when the DMW boss played one of his songs during the livestream.

Davido said he was taken aback by the claim and decided to address it directly, a move that eventually led to them working together in the studio.
“How Omah Lay and I got together was, Kai Cenat came to Nigeria, and I was driving him to the club, and then Omah Lay’s song came up, and he was like, ‘Who is this?’” Davido said.
“I responded, ‘Oh! This is Omah Lay, he is hot.’ And then the next day, Omah Lay tweeted like, ‘Wow! Davido gave me a shoutout on a livestream. I thought he hated me.’ And I Dmed him, ‘Why would you think I hate you? We’ve never met,’” he added.
According to Davido, the exchange opened the door for further conversations and musical collaboration.
“We eventually exchanged numbers, and we were going back and forth with music. We did about four songs, and he chose ‘With You’ as the one we would release,” he explained.
The collaboration has since drawn attention from fans, marking a new chapter in the relationship between the two artists.
