American rapper Daniel Hernandez, popularly known as Tekashi 6ix9ine, has turned himself in to authorities in Brooklyn to begin serving a three-month prison sentence at the Metropolitan Detention Center.

The 29-year-old artist surrendered on Tuesday afternoon, accompanied by popular streamer Adin Ross and a camera crew, with the moment captured on video as he reported to the facility.

Hernandez’s sentence was issued in December 2025 after he admitted to breaching the conditions of his supervised release.

The violations reportedly included assaulting an individual and possessing illegal drugs.

The rapper’s legal troubles date back to 2018, when he was indicted in New York on racketeering and firearms charges linked to the Nine Trey Bloods gang. At the time, he faced a possible prison term of up to 32 years to life.

Although he initially pleaded not guilty, Hernandez later accepted a plea agreement in February 2019, pleading guilty to nine counts. As part of the deal, he cooperated with prosecutors and testified against several gang members in exchange for a reduced sentence.

He also admitted to instructing a member of the gang to carry out a shooting against a rival.

Reports say the rapper is currently being held in the same detention facility as Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

Reacting to the situation, Hernandez reportedly expressed interest in meeting the Venezuelan leader and spending time playing cards while in custody.

“I want to dance with Maduro,” he said, adding that he hoped they could play Spades together during his stay.

The Metropolitan Detention Center is known for housing high-profile inmates, and Hernandez’s incarceration adds to its list of controversial detainees.
