Senegal has taken the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosts Morocco to task for meddling with their preparations for the Sunday AFCON final in Rabat as the two teams face each other. The 2021 champions claim a series of organisational lapses, which they say could affect the top event, in a heavily worded statement released by the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF).

The Senegal Football Federation (SFF) has put out a strong statement and accusations that their team has been made to put up with poor security measures, and housed in substandard accommodation, trained under bad conditions, and had to deal with limitations of tickets on the eve of their AFCON final match.

When the Senegalese team arrived at Rabat train station, they were exposed to close contact with local supporters due to a lack of good security, according to the SFF. The Federation said that this sort of organization is below standard for an AFCON final.

Senegal protested their initial hotel arrangements, and after that, the organisers were forced to put them in a five-star hotel suitable for the occasion. More concerns were raised over the training facilities, and Senegal refused to use the Mohamed VI complex for training as Morocco’s base. They cited sporting fairness as the issue. At the time of their statement, the FSF said that they had not been notified of an alternative training venue.

Senegal has also cited ticketing as another issue where they have been denied access to VIP tickets and have experienced poor distribution of the same to their supporters.

So far, no official response has been received from CAF or Morocco regarding the ‍‌‍‍‌allegations.
