Catherine O’Hara, Home Alone Star, Dies At 71

Hollywood actress Catherine O’Hara has passed away at the age of 71, marking the end of a celebrated career that spanned decades across film and television.

Her talent agency, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), confirmed that the acclaimed actress died at her residence in the Brentwood neighbourhood of Los Angeles. No details were released regarding the cause of her death.

O’Hara became a household name worldwide after starring as the anxious yet loving mother of Kevin McCallister, played by Macaulay Culkin, in the first two Home Alone films. The role cemented her status as a standout figure in family comedy.

She later enjoyed renewed global recognition for her portrayal of the eccentric socialite Moira Rose in the hit television series Schitt’s Creek. Her performance on the Emmy-winning show earned widespread praise and introduced her work to a new generation of viewers over the course of 80 episodes.

Beyond television, O’Hara built an impressive film résumé, appearing in notable projects such as Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, Beetlejuice, and several other comedy classics that showcased her unique screen presence.

Born in Canada, O’Hara began her career in improvisational comedy before rising to prominence in Hollywood. Over the years, she established herself as one of comedy’s most distinctive and respected performers.

She is survived by her family and will be remembered for her immense contributions to entertainment and her enduring influence on popular culture.
