Reality TV star and entertainer Teddy A has spoken candidly about the emotional and professional toll false allegations of domestic violence took on his life, revealing how claims that he assaulted his wife, Bambam, negatively shaped public perception and affected his work opportunities.

In a recent sit-down with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the 37-year-old singer and actor dismissed the allegations, stressing that he has never laid a hand on his wife. According to him, the damaging narrative altered how brands and promoters viewed him, leading to a decline in bookings and collaborations.

Reflecting on how he first encountered the rumours, Teddy A said, “When they said I was beating my wife, it was a lot for me. That day, I woke up and went downstairs. My wife was pregnant, and we were just laughing.”

He explained that he only became aware of the controversy after noticing a sudden surge in notifications on his phone. “I checked my phone, and I saw my notification going up, and I was like, I didn’t drop any content that is trending. What did I do, or what are they saying now,” he recounted.

As he scrolled through the comments, the reality of the situation became clear, leaving both him and his wife shaken. “Then I’m going through comments, and I am surprised. You know my wife is a bit emotional, and she started asking who would have done this.”

Teddy A admitted that he initially suspected the rumours might have been sparked by personal grudges. “I thought it was probably one ex or ‘village people,’” he said, adding that his manager advised him to ignore the claims rather than respond publicly. “I called my manager, and he advised me not to fuel the fire and to let it go.”

However, staying silent came with its own consequences. “It affected my image. Anytime my wife and I posted, the comments were terrible because we didn’t immediately debunk the claims,” he added, noting that the persistent backlash took a toll on their peace of mind and his professional prospects.

Born Tope Adenibuyan, Teddy A began his music journey as a rapper and singer in Dallas, United States, before relocating to Nigeria. He rose to national fame after competing in the Big Brother Naija ‘Double Wahala’ Season 3, where he met his now-wife, Bambam.

The couple tied the knot in a white wedding ceremony held in Dubai in 2019. They welcomed their first child in 2020 and later announced the arrival of their second child in 2022.
