Nollywood actress Bolaji Ogunmola has responded fiercely to an online critic who questioned her professionalism, hinting that she may reduce her presence on social media to focus more on her career.

The backlash followed a now-deleted post by a user identified as I hate lies, who commented on Ogunmola’s latest film, ‘The Bloom After’, and fixated on her romantic scenes with co-star Daniel Etim Effiong.

The user suggested that their on-screen chemistry appeared excessive and implied a possible off-screen connection.

Criticism Over On-Screen Kiss Pushes Bolaji Ogunmola Toward Social Media Exit

“The kissing scenes with Daniel are too much; it’s looking like you guys are an item,” the user wrote. “Why didn’t you kiss the first guy, Anthony, in the movie? Remember that was how Yul and Judy started. Feelings can develop. You guys should tone it down.”

The comment, which referenced the controversial relationship involving actors Yul Edochie and Judy Austin, drew a sharp reaction from Ogunmola, who dismissed the insinuations and defended her professionalism.

“You are an absolute retard!! You watched to tweet stupidity, and it shows. What is the entire film about, you nitwit!! You want to reduce my entire work to kissing?” she wrote.

She further stressed that her acting roles should not be confused with her personal life, saying, “What foolish item? We don’t even talk outside of work! You think because you lack boundaries and have no respect for yourself, everyone acts and carries themselves like that, you absolute fool.”

Expressing broader disappointment with online behaviour, the actress added, “Your opinion about things is a direct representation of who you are and what you stand for. Things I have learned: so many people aren’t professionals, and people lack strong boundaries.”

Turning attention back to the film’s core message, Ogunmola urged audiences to engage more meaningfully with her work. “The Bloom After isn’t just another romance film. It’s about a woman finding herself after giving everything to a cause she believed in… Please share the film with them and remind them they are worthy,” she said.

She concluded by suggesting that distancing herself from social media might be necessary to protect her peace and maintain focus, citing frustration with what she described as disrespectful and shallow criticism.
